This was the cake at the Fort George Party.

Ma Barley was conceived and is led by Mark “Meadowlark” Erickson. Mark approached each one of us to ask if we’d like to create a band just for one gig – to play some reggae at Bob Marley’s Birthday Party in February 2007, and at the same time celebrate the housewarming – kind of early grand opening of the Fort George Brewery in Astoria. At the party we all realized there was no way we could just hang this up – it was too too fun. So we decided to keep working together. Since then Ma Barley has been growing, now comprising Mark and Kevin Violette, Jeremy Hirsch, Brigido Eduardo, Chandler Johnson, Jeffrey Reynolds, Terry Erickson and Tom Peake playing music. Roots Rock Reggae, soul and ska is on the bill. We’re simply satisfying our musical urge, and others want us too. It’s easy to reach us. Just email mark@mabarley.com.
